اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and accepted deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

This powerful dua is often recited by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ after the morning prayer (Fajr). It's an excellent way to start your day with intention, asking Allah for the tools needed to live a life of purpose, which naturally leads to gratitude for what He provides and contentment with His decree.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, lifting your hands as the Prophet ﷺ used to do when making supplication. Focus on the meaning of each request: seeking knowledge that benefits yourself and others, asking for provision that is pure and lawful, and praying for deeds that are accepted by Allah. This acceptance is the ultimate source of contentment.

Virtues & Benefits

While this specific dua focuses on beneficial knowledge, good provision, and accepted deeds, cultivating these aspects of our lives is a direct path to gratitude and contentment. When we have knowledge that guides us, provision that sustains us, and deeds that are pleasing to Allah, our hearts naturally fill with appreciation for His countless blessings. The Prophet ﷺ also mentioned: 'Contentment is a treasure that never diminishes' (Narrated by Tabarani, Sahih according to Al-Albani). By asking Allah for these three things, we are essentially asking for the means to live a life that fosters this deep sense of satisfaction.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to say after finishing the prayer: 'O Allah, forgive me what I have done, what I have done in secret, what I have done in public. Forgive me my mistakes. O Allah, grant me abundant provisions, a beneficial knowledge, and accepted deeds.' (Sunan Ibn Majah 3842, Sahih Muslim 877). The version quoted above is a concise and commonly recited form.
