O Allah, I ask You for Your love, and the love of those who love You, and the love of deeds that will bring me closer to Your love. O Allah, make Your love dearer to me than myself, my family, and cold water.

Allahumma inni as'aluka hubbaka, wa hubba man yuhibbuka, wal-'amala alladhi yuballighuni hubbak. Allahummaj'al hubbaka ahabba ilayya min nafsi wa ahli wa minal-ma'il-barid.

Virtues & Benefits

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, who exemplified perfect devotion, taught us this dua, underscoring its immense importance. Asking Allah for His love, and the love of those who love Him, brings about numerous blessings: * **Ultimate Success:** The love of Allah is the highest form of success in both this world and the Hereafter. As Allah says in the Qur'an: "Say, [O Muhammad], 'If you should love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.'" (Ali 'Imran 3:31). * **Guidance and Protection:** When Allah loves a servant, He guides them, protects them from evil, and makes their affairs easy. The Prophet ﷺ said that when Allah loves a servant, He calls Jibreel and says, "Indeed, I love so-and-so, so love him." Then Jibreel loves him, and he proclaims in the heavens, "Indeed, Allah loves so-and-so, so love him." Then the inhabitants of the heavens love him, and then acceptance is established for him on earth. (Sahih al-Bukhari 6040, Sahih Muslim 2637). * **Sweetness of Faith:** This dua fosters a deep, personal connection with Allah, making worship a source of joy and peace rather than a burden. * **Purification of Intentions:** By asking for the love of deeds that bring us closer to Allah's love, we are seeking purity in our actions, ensuring they are done solely for His pleasure. * **Elevated Status:** The person whose heart is filled with Allah's love and who prioritizes it above all else is truly elevated in Allah's sight.
