O Allah, guide the heart of my spouse, and make him/her steadfast upon Your religion, and make him/her among the rightly guided. O Allah, suffice him/her with what You have made lawful, instead of what You have made unlawful, and enrich him/her with Your bounty over all besides You.
Allahumma ihdi qalba zawji/zawjati, wa thabbit'hu/thabbit'ha 'ala deenika, waj'alhu/waj'alha minar-rashideen. Allahumma ikfineehi/ikfineeha bi halalika 'an haramika, wa aghnihi/aghniha bifadlika 'amman siwak.
When to Read
This is a deeply personal dua, best recited during your personal supplications (duas), especially after salah (obligatory prayers), during the night (Qiyam al-Layl), or at the times when supplications are more likely to be accepted, such as between the adhan and iqamah, or on a Friday. It's a plea born from love and concern for your spouse's well-being in this life and the hereafter.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and deep conviction in Allah's ability to change hearts. Focus on the meaning of the words and visualize your spouse embracing the Deen with greater devotion. You can raise your hands as is customary during supplication. It is also beneficial to follow up your dua with actions that reflect the Deen yourself, setting a positive example. Remember that guidance is ultimately from Allah, and our role is to supplicate and strive.
Virtues & Benefits
The greatest benefit is seeking Allah's direct intervention in guiding your spouse. It fulfills the Islamic teaching of advising and caring for one another. The Prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ said, "The supplication of a Muslim for his brother in his absence is answered. An angel is appointed to his side, and every time he supplicates for his brother, the angel says: 'Ameen, and for you the like of it.'" (Sahih Muslim 2106). This dua can also bring peace to your heart, knowing you are actively seeking the best for your spouse, and can strengthen the bond of marriage through shared spiritual aspiration.
