Raise your hands as you would in supplication, seeking Allah's mercy and assistance. Remember that consistency in making dua is important, coupled with your own efforts in being supportive and understanding towards your spouse.
Virtues & Benefits
Making dua for a spouse is a noble act that strengthens the marital bond and demonstrates care and concern. Allah (SWT) promises to answer the dua of a believer, especially for those who are oppressed or in need, which includes a spouse seeking guidance. This dua seeks protection from a severe trial (addiction) and asks for the ultimate blessings of guidance, repentance, and peace. The Quran states: > **Arabic:** قُلْ يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَىٰ أَنفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِن رَّحْمَةِ اللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ > **Translation:** Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful." > **Transliteration:** *Qul ya 'ibadi alladhina asrafu 'ala anfusihim la taqhnatu min rahmatillah, innallaha yaghfiru adh-dhunuba jami'an, innahu huwal-Ghafurur-Rahim* — Surah Az-Zumar, 41:53. This verse highlights Allah's immense mercy and willingness to forgive, giving hope for repentance for any sin, including addiction. Making dua also reflects patience and reliance on Allah (Tawakkul).
