أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ غَضَبِهِ وَعِقَابِهِ، وَشَرِّ عِبَادِهِ، وَمِنْ هَمَزَاتِ الشَّيَاطِينِ وَأَنْ يَحْضُرُونِ

I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His anger and His punishment, from the evil of His creation, and from the temptations of the devils and their presence.

A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min ghadabihi wa 'iqabihi, wa sharri 'ibadihi, wa min hamazatis-shayateeni wa an yahdhurun.

This powerful dua is recommended to be recited when feeling fear, unease, or distress, especially as one is preparing to sleep. It's a shield against any negative thoughts or whispers that might disturb your peace and rest. Recite it just before you lie down.

Narrated by Abdullah ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'When any one of you wakes up during the night and fears the worst, let him say: أعوذ بكلمات الله التامات من غضبه وعقابه، وشر عباده، ومن همزات الشياطين وأن يحضرون (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His anger and His punishment, from the evil of His creation, and from the temptations of the devils and their presence.)' Then if he dies, his death will be in a state of purity (natural death). (Sunan Abi Dawud 3892, Graded Hasan by Al-Albani. Also narrated in Sunan At-Tirmidhi 3392, who said it is Hasan Gharib.)
