اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and acceptable deeds.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan
When to Read
This dua is recited after the Fajr (dawn) prayer. While not directly for dream interpretation, seeking beneficial knowledge from Allah is a profound way to seek clarity in all aspects of life, including understanding what Allah may be showing us in our dreams. A clear mind and a heart seeking knowledge are better equipped to receive and interpret divine guidance, whether through dreams or wakefulness.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere intention after completing the obligatory Fajr prayer. Raise your hands slightly, as is customary when making dua, and focus on the meaning of the words. Remember that Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) loves for us to ask Him directly for our needs. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this specific supplication after Fajr to seek the best of what this world and the Hereafter have to offer.
Virtues & Benefits
This supplication encompasses seeking three of the most vital things for a believer: beneficial knowledge that guides us, pure and lawful provision that sustains us, and deeds that are accepted by Allah, leading to success in this life and the next. By asking for beneficial knowledge, we are essentially asking for the wisdom to understand things correctly, which can extend to understanding the messages Allah sends us in our dreams. An accepted deed is one that is done sincerely for Allah's sake and in accordance with His commands.
Source & Authentication
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to teach his Companions, saying: 'O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and acceptable deeds.' (This dua is typically recited after Fajr prayer, though the direct instruction in the hadith pertains to the content of the dua itself).
