Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 6006

O Allah, I have wronged myself greatly, and none can forgive sins but You. So, forgive me with forgiveness from You, and have mercy on me. Indeed, You are the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

Allahumma inni zalamtu nafsi zulman katheeran, wa la yaghfirudh-dhunuba illa anta, faghfir li maghfiratan min 'indika, warhamni innaka antal-Ghafurur-Raheem.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a comprehensive plea for Allah's forgiveness. It acknowledges our human tendency to sin ('I have wronged myself greatly') and directly turns to Allah as the sole source of forgiveness ('none can forgive sins but You'). The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua to his uncle Al-'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) and emphasized its importance, highlighting the vastness of Allah's forgiveness. Regularly reciting this can cleanse the heart and mind before sleep, leading to a more peaceful rest and a fresh start the next day.
