اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا.
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provision, and accepted deeds.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.
When to Read
This beautiful dua is recited after the Fajr prayer. While it doesn't directly mention protection from loss during sleep, its core request for 'pure provision' (rizqan tayyiban) encompasses seeking lawful and protected wealth. By asking Allah for pure and accepted provision, we are implicitly seeking His protection over what He has granted us, including our wealth and property, from any form of loss or unlawful acquisition, especially during the vulnerable hours of sleep.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity after you have completed the Fajr prayer. Raise your hands slightly, as if making a supplication, and focus on the meaning of the words. Seek Allah's blessing for beneficial knowledge, sustenance that is pure and lawful, and deeds that are accepted by Him. The intention here is to seek Allah's continuous protection and blessing over all aspects of our lives, including our wealth.
Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua, emphasizing its comprehensive nature. Asking for beneficial knowledge helps us to distinguish between right and wrong and to make wise decisions regarding our finances. Seeking pure provision is a direct request for lawful earnings and sustenance, shielding us from haram income and its potential negative consequences. Requesting accepted deeds ensures that our efforts are pleasing to Allah, which brings about His overall blessings and protection in our lives. This protection extends to safeguarding what we have earned, especially when we are unaware and asleep.

It was narrated from Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet (peace be upon him) performed the morning prayer, he would say: 'O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is beneficial, provision that is good and pure, and deeds that are accepted.'
