In the name of Allah. I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak, from the evil of all that He has created, and from the evil of the night when it deepens, and from the evil of those who practice witchcraft, and from the evil of the envious when he envies. In the name of Allah. I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, the King of mankind, the God of mankind, from the evil of the whispering deceiver, who whispers into the chests of mankind, (whether he be) from among the jinn or mankind.
Bismillahi, a'udhu bi Rabbil falaq, min sharri ma khalaq, wa min sharri ghasiqin idha waqab, wa min sharri n-naffathati fil 'uqad, wa min sharri hasidin idha hasad. Bismillahi, a'udhu bi Rabbin nas, Malikin nas, Ilahin nas, min sharril waswasil khannas, alladhi yuwaswisu fi sudurin nas, minal jinnati wan nas.
When to Read
This powerful dua is recited when going to sleep. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ instructed us to recite the last two chapters of the Quran (Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas) three times each, every night before sleeping. This practice offers comprehensive protection from all sorts of evils, seen and unseen, especially during the vulnerable hours of the night.
How to Read
As taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, you should recite Surah Al-Falaq and then Surah An-Nas, and blow softly onto your hands, then wipe them over your body. Repeat this three times. Start with 'Bismillah' (In the name of Allah). Ensure you read it with sincerity and conviction, envisioning Allah's protection enveloping you.
Virtues & Benefits
Reciting these surahs before sleep is a Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It's a means of seeking Allah's direct protection from physical ailments, the evil eye, sorcery, the whispers of Shaytan, and general harm that may occur during the night. Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that whenever the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ went to bed, he would hold his hands together, blow into them, and recite Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas. He would then wipe with his hands whatever he could reach of his body. She said: 'When he fell ill, he would order me to do that for him.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 5017). This shows the immense importance and benefit of this practice for health and well-being.

ʿĀʾishah (Allāh be pleased with her) reported that when the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) went to bed every night, he used to hold his hands together, then blow into them, and recite: Say: He is Allāh, the One (112). Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the dawn (113). Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind (114). Then he would wipe with them whatever he could of his body. When he fell ill, he would recite these two Surahs and Surah Al-Ikhlas and wipe with his hands his body as much as he could. (Sahih Muslim 2710)
