Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a direct plea for Allah's mercy on the Day of Resurrection, a day when all deeds will be accounted for. An 'easy reckoning' means Allah will overlook our shortcomings and judge us based on His immense grace. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this, showing us the importance of seeking ease in the hereafter even in our daily lives. By making this plea before sleep, we are constantly keeping the hereafter in our minds and actively seeking Allah's favor.

Narrated by Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'O Allah, reckon me with an easy reckoning.' When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, what is an easy reckoning?', he replied: 'It is that the Lord looks at the servant, forgives his sins, and when He counts them, He does so secretly and does not expose them. Then He forgives him for them.' He said: 'And whoever's reckoning is in this way on that Day, he will not be questioned.' (Narrated by Ahmad, At-Tirmidhi, and Al-Hakim)
