O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the Great Throne! Be my protection from the evil of this everlasting night, and the evil of every tyrant and wicked person, and the evil of the devils and their traps, and the evil of every creature that You are seizing by its forelock. Indeed, my Lord is on a straight path.
Allahumma Rabba as-samawati as-sab'i wa Rabba al-'arshi al-'adheem. Kun li jaran min sharri hadha as-sarmad, wa sharri kulli jabbarin fajir, wa sharri ash-shaytani wa wu'yatihi, wa sharri kulli dablatin anta akhidhun bi-nasiyatihi. Inna Rabbi 'ala siratin mustaqeem.

Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported: The Prophet ﷺ used to teach them this supplication for the night: 'Allahumma Rabba as-samawati as-sab'i wa Rabba al-'arshi al-'adheem. Kun li jaran min sharri hadha as-sarmad, wa sharri kulli jabbarin fajir, wa sharri ash-shaytani wa wu'yatihi, wa sharri kulli dablatin anta akhidhun bi-nasiyatihi. Inna Rabbi 'ala siratin mustaqeem.' (Abu Dawud said: 'Sarmad' means everlasting.)
