Virtues & Benefits

This supplication is a direct teaching from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ on how to deal with physical ailments. By seeking refuge in Allah, we acknowledge our weakness and His absolute strength, which is a key aspect of Tawakkul (reliance on Allah).

Source & Authentication

‘Uthman ibn Abu al-‘As (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that he complained to Allah’s Messenger ﷺ about a pain he had felt in his body since he had become Muslim. So Allah’s Messenger ﷺ said to him: ‘Place your hand on the part of your body where you feel pain, and say: Bismillah (In the name of Allah) three times, and say seven times: A'udhu billahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu wa uhadhir (I seek refuge in Allah and His power from the evil of what I feel and what I fear).’
