Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates the essence of Tawhid (Oneness of Allah) by attributing all healing solely to Him. It was the practice of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ when visiting the sick. The phrase 'shifa'an la yughadiru saqaman' (a healing that leaves no ailment behind) is a powerful request for a complete and final cure, not just temporary relief. It fosters patience and strengthens faith during trials, reminding us that no illness is beyond Allah's ability to cure. The Prophet ﷺ also taught a similar supplication for himself when ill, indicating its immense personal benefit and spiritual weight.
Source & Authentication
Narrated Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): When any of us fell ill, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) used to rub the body with his right hand and used to say: 'Allahumma Rabban-nas, adh-hibil-ba's, ishfi antash-Shafi, la shifa'a illa shifa'uka, shifa'an la yughadiru saqaman.' (O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove this suffering, heal him, You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing, a healing that leaves no ailment behind.)
