بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تُرْبَةُ أَرْضِنَا، بِرِيقِ بَعْضِنَا، يُشْفَى سَقِيمُنَا، بِإِذْنِ رَبِّنَا
In the name of Allah, with the soil of our land, mixed with the saliva of some of us, our sick will be cured by the permission of our Lord.
Bismillahi, turbatu ardina, biriqi ba'dina, yushfa saqeemuna, bi'idhni rabbina.
When to Read
This powerful dua is recited when treating a skin ailment or any sickness. It involves combining the earth from one's surroundings with one's own saliva, a potent symbolic act of invoking Allah's healing power. It's particularly relevant for conditions that manifest externally, like skin disorders, where the visible nature of the affliction calls for specific supplication.
How to Read
The practice, as described by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to his companions, involved taking the earth, mixing it with saliva, and then applying it to the affected area while reciting this dua. The intention (niyyah) should be purely for seeking Allah's cure. The earth represents humility and our origin, while the saliva, a part of our being, symbolizes our earnest plea. This act is a tangible way to engage with the spiritual aspect of healing, trusting in Allah's decree.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a direct lesson from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ on how to seek Allah's healing through means that are both spiritual and seemingly earthly. It teaches us that even common elements like soil can become instruments of cure when blessed by Allah's permission. The act embodies reliance on Allah (tawakkul) and the understanding that all healing ultimately comes from Him alone. It highlights the beauty of Islamic medicine, which integrates spiritual supplication with practical actions.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to say when a man had a disease in his body, 'O Allah, O our Lord! Allah is in the heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Your commandexecutes in my heaven and on earth; so, grant me relief from my disease, for verily You are the Lord of the fall. By Your command the sky does not fall on the earth except with Your permission, then it is saved, and again You send it down. I ask you by Your beauty which is in it, and by the beauty of the great Throne, and by the great Throne, and by the great name, and the hidden hidden face, and the flowing pen, and the standing pillar, that you do not let me live or die. Narrated Abu Al-Aswad: I came to Medina and found him (Abu Bakr) suffering from fever. While sitting, he recited the following verses: 'Every soul shall taste of death...' (3:185). Narrated Aisha: The Prophet ﷺ used to treat some sick people by passing his hand over his body and used to say: 'O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the illness, heal it, for You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing, a healing that does not leave behind any sickness.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 5744). Another version for general ailments: The Prophet ﷺ said, 'The earth of our land and the saliva of some of us is used to cure our patient, by the permission of our Lord.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 5744).
