When to Read

This powerful dua is for anyone experiencing physical pain or discomfort in their body. Whether it's a sharp pain, a dull ache, or a general feeling of unease, reciting this upon feeling the onset of pain or when you anticipate it can bring immense relief.

How to Read

Place your hand on the part of your body that is aching and say 'Bismillah' (In the name of Allah) three times. Then, recite the full dua: 'A'udhu billahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu wa uhadhiru' (I seek refuge in Allah and in His Power from the evil of what I find and what I fear) seven times. This practice was taught by our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to a companion experiencing pain.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua directly addresses the root of relief: Allah (SWT). By seeking refuge in Allah and His Power, we acknowledge that He is the ultimate Healer. The repetition of seven times is a specific Prophetic instruction, signifying the emphasis on sincere supplication and reliance on Allah's decree. It's a beautiful way to turn to our Creator not just for the cure, but for protection from the pain itself.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from Uthman bin Abi al-'As (may Allah be pleased with him) that he complained to Allah's Messenger ﷺ about a pain he felt in his body from the time he became Muslim. Allah's Messenger ﷺ said to him: 'Place your hand on the part of your body where you feel pain, and say: Bismillah (In the name of Allah) three times, and say seven times: A'udhu billahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu wa uhadhiru (I seek refuge in Allah and in His Power from the evil of what I find and what I fear).'
