Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: When the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ went to bed every night, he used to cup his hands together, then blow into them and recite the Mu'awwidhat (Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah An-Nas). Then he would rub them over whatever parts of his body he could, starting with his head and face and the front of his body. He used to do that three times. (Sahih al-Bukhari 5017). In another narration related to treating illness: When the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was ill, he used to recite over himself the Mu'awwidhat and blow. When his illness increased, I used to recite it over him and rub his hand with it, seeking its blessing. (Sahih al-Bukhari 5748). And when he was afflicted with something, he would say: "Bismillahi arqika, min kulli shay'in yu'dhika, min sharri kulli nafsin aw 'ayni hasidin, Allahu yashfika, bismillahi arqika." (Sahih Muslim 2186). This narration specifically addresses seeking refuge from the evil of souls (which can include sorcery) and the envious eye.
