بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تُرْبَةُ أَرْضِنَا، بِرِيقِ بَعْضِنَا، شِفَاءُ سَقَمِنَا، بِإِذْنِ رَبِّنَا
In the name of Allah, with the soil of our land, mixed with the saliva of some of us, let our sick be healed by the permission of our Lord.
Bismillahi, turbatu ardina, biriqi ba'dina, shifau saqimina, bi'idni rabbina.
When to Read
This powerful dua is recited by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ when treating someone who is ill. It's especially poignant when a child is unwell. You can recite it directly onto the child's forehead, or cup your hands and blow gently after reciting, or simply recite it with sincerity and intention while placing your hand on the child's body. The key is the earnest supplication to Allah.
How to Read
The Prophet ﷺ would gather his saliva on his finger and rub it on the ground, then place his finger on the patient, saying this dua. This act symbolized invoking Allah's blessings through the very elements of the earth and the essence of human life. When reciting for your child, you can follow a similar practice, or simply place your hand on your child's forehead or chest and recite with complete faith and focus. Ensure you are in a state of purity if possible, and face the Qiblah.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a profound expression of Tawhid (Oneness of Allah) and reliance on Him for healing. It teaches us that even the simplest elements of creation, when invoked with Allah's permission, can be a means of cure. The Prophet's ﷺ action shows us that we should actively seek treatment while simultaneously placing our ultimate trust in Allah. It reinforces the belief that 'shifa' (healing) comes solely from our Creator.
