Dua for Seeking Forgiveness for All Known and Unknown Sins

Repentance & Tawbah
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 6306

O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever effective. Your justice over me is assured. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or have taught to anyone from Your creation, or have revealed in Your Book, or have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Quran the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the banisher of my grief and the remover of my worries.

Allahumma inni 'abdika, ibn 'abdika, ibn amatik, nasiyati biyadika, madin fiyya hukmuka, 'adlun fiyya qada'uka, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa laka, sammayta bihi nafsaka, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, aw anzaltahu fi kitabika, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilm al-ghaybi 'indaka, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jila'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Abdullah: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'No person gets into trouble who has, in his heart, the smallest amount of faith. But such a person who does not follow my teachings, will be in trouble. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'Allah, the Blessed and the Highest, said, 'O My slave! You are a slave of Mine, and you are the son of My slave, and you are the son of My slave-girl. My forelock is in My hand. Your fate is determined by My knowledge. You must carry out My commandments or you will be overturned by My enemies. The punishment for anyone among you is the punishment of two men, for I am not a foe to him. O My slave! You must obey Me wherever you are commanded, and you will be made of two-fold reward. If you spend (in Allah's cause), it will be counted to your credit. O My slave! Do not go against Me, for when you are with Me, you are with one whom I love.' The Prophet (ﷺ) then said: 'Allahumma inni 'abd-uk, wa ibn 'abd-ik, wa ibn amat-ik. Nasitati bi-yad-ik, madin fiyya hukm-uk, 'adlun fiyya qada'-uk. As'aluka bikulli-smin huwa lak, sammayta bihi nafsak, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqik, aw anzaltahu fi kitabik, aw istatharta bihi fi 'ilm al-ghaybi 'indak, an taj'ala al-Qur'an rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jila'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi. (O Allah, I am Your slave, son of Your slave, son of Your slave-girl. My forelock is in Your hand. Your decree for me binds me, Your judgment on me is just. I ask You by every name You have called Yourself, or taught to anyone of Your creation, or revealed in Your Book, or have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, to make the Qur'an the light of my heart, the spring of my chest, remover of my grief, and the solver of my worries)."
