Dua for Repentance and the Cleansing of the Soul from Hidden Sins

Repentance & Tawbah
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 6306

O Allah, forgive my mistakes, my ignorance, and my excess in my affairs, and all that You know better about me than I do. O Allah, forgive me for my jesting and my seriousness, my errors and my intentional sins, my resolve and my jesting; all of that is with me. O Allah, forgive me for what I have sent forth and what I have delayed, for what I have concealed and what I have made public, and for what You know better about me than I do. You are the One Who brings forth and the One Who delays; You have power over all things.

Allahumma-ghfir li khatee'ati, jahli, wa israafi fi amri, wa ma anta a'lamu bihi minni. Allahumma-ghfir li hazli wa jiddi, wa khata'i wa 'amdi, wa 'azmi wa hazli, kullu dhalika 'indi. Allahumma-ghfir li ma qaddamtu wa ma akhkhartu, wa ma asrartu wa ma a'lantu, wa ma anta a'lamu bihi minni. Antal-muqaddimu wa antal-mu'akhkhiru, wa anta 'ala kulli shay'in qadeer.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him): I said to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), "O Allah's Messenger! Teach me a supplication which I can recite in my prayer." He said, "Recite: 'O Allah! I have wronged myself unjustly, and none can forgive sins except You. So grant me forgiveness and have mercy on me. Verily, You are the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.'" Another version said: "'O Allah, forgive me my sin, my ignorance, my hardship in my task, and my sin in what You know of me. O Allah, forgive me my jesting and my seriousness, my error and my intentionality, and my resolve in what You know of me. Of these, I know not. O Allah, forgive me what I have done in advance and what I have done in the future, what I have done in secret and what I have done publicly. You are the One Who advances and You are the One Who delays; there is no god but You.'" (Sahih al-Bukhari 6306)
