The Best Dhikr and Dua for the Day of Arafah

Ramadan & Fasting
Hasan HadithSunan At-Tirmidhi 3585

None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner. To Him belongs all sovereignty and praise, and He is over all things omnipotent.

La ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu wa huwa 'ala kulli shayin qadir.

When to Read

Recite this powerful dhikr frequently throughout the Day of Arafah, from Fajr until sunset. While pilgrims are standing on Mount Arafah making supplication, non-pilgrims are encouraged to engage in abundant dhikr and dua from their homes, especially if they are fasting. This day is a golden opportunity for supplication and remembrance of Allah, whether you are in Makkah or anywhere else in the world.

How to Read

Repeat this sacred declaration of Allah's Oneness with sincerity and full presence of heart. Understand its profound meaning as you recite it. While it's a form of dhikr (remembrance), the Prophet ﷺ also called it the 'best of supplication,' indicating that general duas made on this day are particularly potent. Combine its recitation with your personal duas for yourself, your family, and the entire Ummah.

Virtues & Benefits

This particular phrase is considered 'the best of what I and the Prophets before me said' on this blessed day, as reported in the hadith. Reciting it extensively on Arafah brings immense reward and is a profound act of devotion. For non-pilgrims, coupling this dhikr with fasting on the Day of Arafah carries an additional, incredible benefit: 'It expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year' (Sahih Muslim 1162a). This combination of sincere remembrance, heartfelt dua, and fasting makes the Day of Arafah a peak opportunity for spiritual cleansing and drawing closer to Allah.
