اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
O Allah, indeed You are Pardoning, You love to pardon, so pardon me.
Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul 'afwa fa'fu 'anni
When to Read
This is the perfect dua for the remaining nights of Ramadan, especially the last ten nights. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ specifically encouraged its recitation during these blessed times. It is particularly poignant to recite this when seeking Laylat al-Qadr, the Night of Decree, as the last ten nights are where it is most likely to be found. Recite it in your voluntary prayers (qiyam), after your obligatory prayers, or at any moment you find yourself reflecting and seeking closeness to Allah.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and full presence of heart. Understand the meaning: you are acknowledging Allah's attribute of being 'Al-'Afuww' (The Pardoner) and expressing your deep desire for His forgiveness. It's best to raise your hands as you make this supplication, as is the practice during dua. Reflect on your shortcomings and sins, and truly believe that Allah is capable of forgiving all of them, especially during this month of mercy. Make it a habit, repeating it often in these precious remaining nights.
Virtues & Benefits
The primary benefit is attaining the forgiveness of Allah Almighty. The Prophet ﷺ himself, despite being promised a life of perfect piety, made this dua repeatedly. This shows us the immense importance of seeking forgiveness, even for those who are divinely protected. By seeking pardon, we cleanse our hearts, draw closer to our Creator, and increase our hope for acceptance of our deeds and duas. This dua is a direct pathway to Allah's pleasure and mercy, particularly vital as we strive to earn His rewards during Ramadan's final stretch, hoping to be freed from the Fire.

‘Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "I asked: ‘O Messenger of Allah, if I know which night is Laylat al-Qadr, what should I say during it?’ He replied: ‘Say: Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘anni’ (O Allah, indeed You are Pardoning, You love to pardon, so pardon me).’" The narrator said: So he taught her this dua.
