اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى صِيَامِهِ وَقِيَامِهِ، وَسَكِّنْ لِي قَلْبِي وَبَدَنِي
O Allah, help me in fasting and praying [during its nights], and make my heart and body inclined [to worship].
Allahumma a'inni 'ala siyamihi wa qiyamihi, wa sakhkhir li qalbi wa badani
When to Read
This is a general supplication that can be made at any time during Ramadan, especially at the beginning of the month to ask for Allah's assistance throughout. It's particularly fitting to recite it after the intention (niyyah) for fasting is made each night, or in the morning before beginning the fast, and also during the days when you feel your resolve weakening.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and focus. Raise your hands as you would for other supplications. Imagine the strength and ease that Allah can bestow upon you. Understand that the 'prayer' (qiyam) here refers to voluntary night prayers like Taraweeh, and asking Allah to make your heart and body 'inclined' means seeking the ability to perform these acts of worship with comfort and devotion, not hardship.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates a profound request for divine assistance, acknowledging that the ability to fast and pray properly during Ramadan is a gift from Allah. It seeks not just the physical endurance for fasting, but also the spiritual inclination and ease to engage in night prayers. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to ask Allah for help in fulfilling His commands, and this dua directly addresses the challenges and opportunities of Ramadan. It reminds us that our efforts are most fruitful when supported by Allah's grace, making the spiritual journey of Ramadan smoother and more rewarding.
