Ramadan & Fasting
Hasan HadithSunan at-Tirmidhi 3522

يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ

O Turner of hearts, make my heart steadfast upon Your religion.

Ya Muqallibal-qulub, thabbit qalbi 'ala deenik

When to Read

As Ramadan enters its final, most blessed stretch, sometimes our initial fervor can begin to wane. The energy for standing in Tarawih, reciting Quran, or performing extra voluntary acts might dip. This dua is particularly profound for these moments, urging Allah to keep our hearts firm on His religion when we feel our resolve weakening. Recite it especially during the last ten nights of Ramadan, during your sujud, after prayers, and whenever you feel a spiritual dip or challenge to your faith. It's not just for Ramadan; it's a constant plea for guidance.

How to Read

When you say this dua, let the words resonate deeply within your heart. * **Understand its profound meaning:** You're acknowledging Allah's absolute power over your heart and asking for His direct intervention. * **Recite with sincerity and humility:** Approach Allah with the understanding that without His help, your heart can waver. * **Combine with action:** While making dua, strive to implement the actions that strengthen your faith – consistent prayer, Quran recitation, good deeds, and avoidance of sins. Dua is a powerful tool, but it's not a substitute for effort.

Virtues & Benefits

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself frequently recited this dua, teaching us its immense importance. Its regular recitation brings numerous blessings: * **Steadfastness in faith:** It's a direct plea to Allah to keep your heart firm on Islam, protecting it from doubts and deviations. * **Inner peace and confidence:** Knowing that you are seeking stability from the One who controls all hearts brings immense tranquility. * **Protection from trials:** In a world full of distractions and tests, this dua is a shield against spiritual pitfalls. * **Deepening reliance on Allah:** It reminds us that our hearts, our very essence of faith, are entirely in Allah's hands, fostering profound reliance (*tawakkul*) on Him alone. * **Following the Sunnah:** Emulating the Prophet ﷺ in his most frequent and beloved supplications is a tremendous reward in itself.

Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: "The Prophet (ﷺ) used to say this dua very often: يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ (Ya Muqallibal-qulub, thabbit qalbi 'ala deenik - O Turner of hearts, make my heart steadfast upon Your religion). I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, you say this dua very often. Are you afraid?' He (ﷺ) said, 'What makes me feel secure, O Umm Salamah? Indeed, the hearts are between two fingers of the Most Merciful. He turns them as He wills.'" — Tirmidhi 3522
