Dua for Solace While Fasting Alone

Ramadan & Fasting
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 7

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا.

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.

When to Read

This is a comprehensive dua the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would often recite after the morning prayer (Fajr), but it's particularly meaningful during the solitary moments of fasting. When you're alone, perhaps feeling the weight of distance from loved ones, turning to Allah with this supplication can bring immense comfort and focus.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction. Raise your hands in supplication if you feel moved to do so, as this is a known practice during dua. Understand the meaning of each part: asking for knowledge that benefits, sustenance that is pure and lawful, and deeds that are accepted by Allah. This combination covers spiritual, worldly, and spiritual-acceptance aspects of our lives.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is profound because it encapsulates a holistic request for the best of this life and the next. Beneficial knowledge guides us. Goodly provision sustains us lawfully, preventing haram. Acceptable deeds are those that are done purely for Allah and in accordance with His commands, and their acceptance means they bring us closer to Him. When fasting alone, remembering these pillars of a righteous life can strengthen our resolve and remind us that our connection with Allah is paramount, regardless of our physical circumstances.
