اَللّٰهُمَّ أَعِنِّيْ عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ
O Allah, help me to remember You, to give thanks to You, and to worship You in the best manner.
Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatika
When to Read
This profound dua is particularly relevant during Ramadan, when we are actively engaging in fasting and striving to fulfill its obligations. It's an excellent supplication to recite at any time during the month, especially after prayers, when breaking the fast, or during the pre-dawn meal (suhoor). It serves as a constant reminder to seek Allah's assistance in maintaining sincerity and excellence in our worship throughout the fast.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere intention and focus. Raise your hands as you would for other supplications, especially after the obligatory prayers. Reflect on the meaning of each part: seeking help to remember Allah (dhikr), to be grateful to Him (shukr), and to perfect our worship of Him (husni 'ibadatika). This includes not just abstaining from food and drink, but also guarding our tongues, eyes, and actions from all that displeases Allah, thereby fulfilling the true essence of fasting.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encompasses the core elements of a believer's relationship with Allah. Seeking His aid in remembrance ensures we remain mindful of Him in all our affairs, preventing heedlessness. Asking for help in gratitude keeps our hearts thankful for His countless blessings, including the blessing of fasting itself. The request for help in worshipping Him in the 'best manner' prompts us to go beyond mere ritual and strive for excellence, sincerity, and complete submission in all acts of devotion. This is crucial for making our fasts truly impactful and accepted by Allah.
