Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 1522

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ ذِكْرَكَ وَشُكْرَكَ وَحُسْنَ عِبَادَتِكَ

O Allah, I ask You for remembrance of You, gratitude to You, and excellent worship of You.

Allahumma inni as'aluka dhikraka wa shukraka wa husna 'ibadatika

When to Read

This is a comprehensive supplication that is excellent to recite at any time, especially during the blessed month of Ramadan. You can say it in the morning, evening, or whenever you feel a need to connect more deeply with Allah, particularly when you are fasting and seeking to maintain that spiritual connection throughout the day.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a present heart. Visualize yourself actively remembering Allah, being grateful for His blessings, and striving to worship Him in the best way possible. It's a beautiful prayer to make when you break your fast, or even during the quiet moments of suhoor or throughout the day.

Virtues & Benefits

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua to his companions, highlighting its importance. It encapsulates the essence of a believer's connection with their Lord: constant remembrance (dhikr), profound gratitude (shukr), and dedicating oneself to excellent worship (husna 'ibadah). Especially during fasting, which is itself an act of remembrance and submission, this dua helps maintain focus on the spiritual purpose, turning the physical act of abstaining into a profound act of worship.
