Ramadan & Fasting
Hasan HadithSunan Ibn Majah 925

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

This dua is particularly potent during Ramadan, especially in the final third of the night when Allah descends to the lowest heaven. It's an excellent supplication to make after Taraweeh, during Suhoor, or at any point during the fast when one feels a sincere connection and a need to turn to Allah. Its broad scope makes it suitable for any time, but its connection to seeking Allah's bounty makes it especially fitting for the blessed month.

How to Read

Begin with praising Allah and sending salutations upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, visualizing Allah's power to grant your requests. Raise your hands slightly, as is customary for supplication. Reflect on the meaning of each request: seeking knowledge that benefits, sustenance that is pure, and actions that are accepted by our Creator. Ensure you have a clear intention for what you are asking, whether it's for worldly needs or spiritual growth.

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive dua encapsulates three of the most important requests a Muslim can make: beneficial knowledge that guides and protects, pure and lawful provision (rizq) that sustains us, and deeds that are accepted by Allah, leading to His pleasure and reward. Seeking these three things is a holistic approach to fulfilling one's needs, encompassing spiritual, intellectual, and material well-being. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would often supplicate for these very things, highlighting their immense value.
