اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ
O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision against unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your bounty, so that I may not need anyone other than You.
Allahumma akfini bihalalika 'an haramika wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak
When to Read
This dua is particularly potent during Ramadan. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this to his cousin Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) to recite after Fajr prayer. It's a powerful supplication to make when seeking sustenance, whether it's financial, spiritual, or related to any other need, especially as we are striving to purify ourselves during this blessed month. Making dua after prayers, and especially during the blessed hours of Ramadan, carries great weight.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction. Raise your hands as is customary when making dua, and focus on the meaning of the words. It's about entrusting your needs entirely to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), acknowledging that He is the sole provider and the only one who can truly satisfy your desires and fulfill your needs through lawful means. Start your day with this beautiful supplication, seeking Allah's protection from unlawful means and His sufficient provision.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encompasses a comprehensive request for well-being. By asking Allah to suffice us with His lawful provision, we are seeking protection from falling into haram in pursuit of our needs. The second part, 'enrich me with Your bounty, so that I may not need anyone other than You,' is a profound seeking of contentment and independence from creation, relying solely on the Generosity of the Creator. This leads to peace of mind and freedom from the anxieties of depending on others. For a fasting person, whose supplication is generally accepted, this dua becomes an even more impactful way to seek Allah's blessings during Ramadan.

Narrated by Ali: The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught me these words to say in the prayer of Witr: 'O Allah, guide me among those whom You have guided, and strengthen me among those whom You have strengthened, and take me to myself [i.e., decide my fate] among those whom You have destined, and protect me from the evil of what You have decreed. For verily, You decree and no one can decree against You, and verily he is not humiliated whom You take as a ward. Blessed are You, O our Lord, and Exalted.' He said: 'The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) commanded me that I should recite these words in the prayer of Witr.' In another narration: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to Ali: 'Say: O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful [provision] against unlawful [provision], and enrich me with Your bounty, making me independent of all else besides You.'
