Dua for Enduring the Heat While Fasting

Ramadan & Fasting
Hasan HadithSunan At-Tirmidhi 3563

اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your grace so that I do not need to ask anyone other than You.

Allahumma kfini bihalalika 'an haramika wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak

When to Read

This dua is particularly beneficial to recite during the intense heat of Ramadan, especially when feeling the strain of thirst and hunger. It's a powerful supplication to turn to when the physical challenges of fasting feel overwhelming, seeking Allah's help to remain content and patient.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and heartfelt conviction, especially during the times when fasting becomes difficult due to heat. Raising your hands in supplication, as was the practice of the Prophet ﷺ, can enhance the feeling of reliance on Allah. Focus on the meaning: asking Allah to provide enough lawful sustenance to keep you from needing unlawful means, and to grant you sufficient wealth through His bounty so you don't need to beg from others.

Virtues & Benefits

This profound dua, though general, offers immense solace during the hardship of fasting in hot weather. It encompasses two essential aspects of reliance on Allah: seeking lawful provision and being content with His decree. By asking for lawful sustenance, we acknowledge that true wealth and satisfaction come from Allah's blessings, not from illicit means. The request for enrichment through His grace helps us to accept our circumstances, even when they are challenging, like enduring extreme heat while fasting. It cultivates patience and gratitude, reminding us that every hardship is an opportunity for spiritual growth and reward.

From Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me these words to say at the end of every prayer: "Allahumma akfini bihalalika 'an haramika wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak." (O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me with Your grace so that I do not need to ask anyone other than You.)
