اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا.
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and accepted deeds.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.
When to Read
This dua is particularly relevant during Ramadan when we are fasting. It can be recited at any point during the day, especially when feeling the physical strain of fasting or when facing challenges that make it difficult to perform deeds. It's a general dua for seeking Allah's help in making our efforts beneficial and accepted, which is crucial when we are striving to fast and worship during Ramadan.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere intention and conviction. Raise your hands if possible, as is the etiquette for supplication. Focus on the meaning of each word: asking for knowledge that benefits the heart and actions, sustenance that is pure and lawful, and deeds that are pleasing to Allah. Imagine Allah's mercy encompassing you as you ask.
Virtues & Benefits
This comprehensive dua encompasses three vital aspects of a Muslim's life. Beneficial knowledge guides us to worship Allah correctly and avoid misguidance. Good provision ensures we are sustained in a way that is pleasing to Allah, without resorting to unlawful means. Most importantly, asking for accepted deeds is the ultimate goal, especially during Ramadan, as it is through Allah's acceptance that our worship truly counts. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would often make this dua in the morning, seeking a good start to his day's efforts.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'The supplication of a servant is granted as long as he does not supplicate for something sinful or for the severing of the ties of kinship, and as long as he does not act impatiently.' It was asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, what does it mean to act impatiently?' He said: 'It means to say: "I have supplicated to my Lord, but He has not responded to me." ' When Anas was asked about the supplication, he mentioned: 'The Prophet (ﷺ) used to say: "O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and acceptable deeds."' (Hasan)
