โœฆ

O Allah, bless them in their fasting and make it a means for their hearts [to be guided and strengthened], and make them among the people of Paradise.

Allahumma barik lahum fi sawmihim waj'alhu sababan lifu'adihim waj'alhum min ahlil jannah

When to Read

This dua is especially meaningful to recite when a child is preparing for or beginning their first day of fasting, or at any point during Ramadan as they embark on this spiritual journey. It can be said before Suhoor, after prayers, or during a quiet moment of reflection with the child.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a hopeful heart, directing your supplication to Allah. You can say it aloud while looking at the child, or quietly to yourself while making a heartfelt plea. The intention behind the dua is key โ€“ seeking Allah's acceptance and reward for the child's earnest effort in fulfilling this pillar of Islam.

Virtues & Benefits

While this specific phrasing is a supplication rather than a direct hadith, the act of making dua for our children's righteous deeds is deeply rooted in Islamic tradition. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) encouraged making dua for others, and for righteous offspring. Making dua for a child observing their first fast acknowledges their significant effort, seeks Allah's divine assistance in making the fast easy and beneficial for them, and asks for their ultimate reward in the Hereafter. It reinforces the importance of this act of worship and invokes Allah's protection and blessings upon them.
