O Allah, bless my child in Ramadan, and make him/her among Your righteous servants. Aid him/her in fasting and standing (in prayer), and accept it from him/her.
Allahumma barik li waladi fi Ramadan waj'alhu min 'ibadikas-salihin wa a'innahu 'alas-siyami wal-qiyami wa taqabbal minhu
When to Read
This dua is perfect to recite when your child is about to embark on their first fast, or at the beginning of Ramadan. You can make it during suhoor, after Fajr prayer, or any time you make dua for your family. It's a beautiful way to invoke Allah's (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) protection and guidance over them during this significant spiritual milestone.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a hopeful heart. Visualize Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) accepting your child's effort and showering them with His mercy. You can say it individually, or have your child say it with you, teaching them the importance of seeking Allah's help in acts of worship. Ensure you understand the meaning, so you can say it with full presence.
Virtues & Benefits
Making dua for your child's first fast reinforces its spiritual significance for them. It seeks Allah's (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) blessing on their deed, making it easier for them to complete it and fostering a love for Ramadan. This supplication also asks for righteous character and acceptance of their worship, aiming for long-term commitment to Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the importance of dua: 'Nothing can change the divine decree except dua.' (Sunan Ibn Majah 1752, graded Hasan by some scholars).
