Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'The fasting person has two joys: the joy of breaking his fast, and the joy of meeting his Lord, and the smell that comes from the mouth of the fasting person is better with Allah than the smell of musk.' (Narrated by Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him)). Another narration states: When the Prophet (peace be upon him) broke his fast, he would say: "Dhahaba al-zam'u, wa-btallat al-'uruq, wa-thabata al-ajru in sha Allah." (Thirst has gone, the veins are quenched, and the reward is confirmed, if Allah wills). Another dua for breaking fast is: 'Allahumma la 'aish illa 'aish al-akhirah, faghfir lil-ansari wal-muhajirah' (O Allah, there is no life but the life of the Hereafter, so forgive the Helpers and the Emigrants) - Sahih al-Bukhari 6137, Sahih Muslim 1106. The dua provided in the main field, 'Allahumma sumtu laka wa aftartu 'ala rizqik', is a commonly recited and beautiful dua emphasizing reliance on Allah's provision during the breaking of the fast.
