الصَّائِمُ إِذَا أَفْطَرَ دَعْوَةٌ مُسْتَجَابَةٌ
When the fasting person breaks their fast, their supplication is accepted.
As-sa'imu idha aftara da'watun mustajabah
When to Read
This is the prime moment for making personal supplications (duas). As the sun sets and you are about to break your fast, focus your heart and mind on making sincere duas. It's not just about reciting a specific pre-written dua, but about utilizing this window of acceptance for whatever is in your heart, whether it's for yourself, your family, or the Ummah.
How to Read
The key is sincerity and presence of heart. While breaking your fast, turn to Allah. You can say the well-known dua for breaking the fast, but then follow it with your own personal requests and heartfelt pleas. Remember the Prophet Muhammad's ﷺ saying: 'There are three whose dua is not rejected: the fasting person until he breaks his fast, the just ruler, and the supplication of the oppressed.' (Sunan Ibn Majah 1752). So, be mindful and present in this moment.
Virtues & Benefits
This is a divinely gifted opportunity. Allah Himself promises acceptance for the dua of a fasting person at the moment they break their fast. It's a time when our supplications are particularly elevated, a chance to seek forgiveness, ask for our needs, and draw closer to our Creator. Think of it as a special audience granted by Allah to those who have strived in His obedience through fasting.

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The fasting person has five characteristics: he is pleased when he breaks his fast; his skin becomes moist with sweat; the angels pray for him; the fasting person is rewarded for each hair (on his body); and he is given strength to fast on the Day of the Fasting (Eid al-Fitr). When he breaks his fast, his supplication is accepted.'
