When to Read

This dua is perfect for the occasion of your child undertaking their first fast. You can recite it before they start their fast at Suhoor, or at Iftar as they break their fast, or even during the last ten nights of Ramadan while making general supplications. It's a beautiful way to imbue their experience with spiritual significance from the outset.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a hopeful heart, directing your supplication to Allah. You can place your hand on your child's head gently while reciting it, or say it with them present. The intention is key: seeking Allah's blessings and protection for your child as they embark on this important act of worship. Focus on the meaning of the words โ€“ asking for divine barakah (blessing), protection from harm, and acceptance of their fast and any night prayers they might offer.

Virtues & Benefits

Making dua for your child, especially during significant spiritual milestones like their first fast, is a profound act of nurturing their faith. It invokes Allah's continuous protection and guidance over them. This supplication specifically asks for barakah, which encompasses growth, abundance, and well-being, not just in this world but in their deen. By seeking protection from evil, you are asking Allah to shield their heart and mind from negative influences. Blessing their fast and prayers acknowledges their effort and seeks Allah's acceptance, which is the ultimate reward for any act of worship. It also instills in the child the understanding that worship is a communal and spiritual endeavor, supported by the prayers of their loved ones.
