In the name of Allah. Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the dawn, from the evil of all that He has created, and from the evil of the night when it deepens, and from the evil of those who practice sorcery, and from the evil of the envious when he envies.

When to Read
This dua is profoundly beneficial to recite before sleeping. Many of us have experienced unsettling dreams or disturbing visions that can leave us feeling anxious even after waking. By reciting Surah Al-Falaq (and Surah An-Nas, which often accompanies it), we are turning to the ultimate protection, Allah SWT, against any perceived or real harm manifesting in our sleep.
How to Read
Recite with sincere intention and conviction, seeking refuge only in Allah. It is recommended to recite Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas three times each before sleeping. The Prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ taught us to cup our hands together, breathe into them after reciting, and then wipe over our entire bodies, starting with the head, as much as possible. This act of seeking refuge is a powerful spiritual shield.
Virtues & Benefits
Reciting these Surahs is a direct command from Allah and a practice of our beloved Prophet ๏ทบ. It's a comprehensive shield against all sorts of evil, including the subtle and often unseen evils that can influence our dreams and inner state. By seeking refuge in Allah, the Creator of the dawn, we are acknowledging His power over all creation and asking for His divine protection against anxieties, fears, and any negative spiritual influences that might present themselves in our sleep. It brings immense peace of mind and strengthens our reliance on Allah.

โAbdullah bin Khubaib (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: We went out on a dark and rainy night, looking for the Messenger of Allah ๏ทบ to lead us in prayer. I found him and he said: 'Say.' I said: 'What shall I say?' He said: 'Say: Qul huwa Allahu ahad, and the two Surahs of seeking refuge (Al-Falaq and An-Nas) in the morning and evening three times, and that will be sufficient for you against everything.'
