أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.

When to Read

This powerful dua is recommended to be recited every morning and evening, three times each. It serves as a potent shield against all forms of evil, including the subtle and harmful effects of sorcery and bewitchment, which are real threats that require seeking Allah's refuge. Reciting it consistently helps in maintaining a spiritual defense throughout the day and night.

How to Read

Recite this dua sincerely, with full conviction in Allah's power and protection. Ensure you are in a state of purity if possible, though it is permissible to recite it in any state. Direct your heart towards Allah as you utter these words, truly seeking His refuge. It is best to cup your hands as if you are about to ask for something, recite the dua, and then gently blow into your hands and wipe them over your body, starting with your head and face, and repeating this three times.

Virtues & Benefits

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ stated concerning this dua: 'Whoever says it three times in the morning will not be harmed by anything until he enters the evening, and whoever says it three times in the evening will not be harmed by anything until he enters the morning.' (Sahih Muslim 2708). This indicates its immense protective power against physical ailments, spiritual harm, and the insidious effects of black magic and bewitchment. By seeking refuge in Allah's perfect words, we are invoking the ultimate protection against all created evils.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'There is no Muslim who stops in a place at night and says: 'I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created' (أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ), except that nothing will harm him until he moves from that stopping place.' And it was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Whoever says it three times in the morning will not be harmed by anything until he enters the evening, and whoever says it three times in the evening will not be harmed by anything until he enters the morning.'
