اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ مُنْكَرَاتِ الأَخْلاَقِ وَالأَعْمَالِ وَالأَهْوَاءِ

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil characteristics, deeds, and desires.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min munkaratil akhlaqi wal a'mali wal ahwaa'

When to Read

This is a powerful dua to recite at any time, but it's especially beneficial to make it a regular part of your morning and evening remembrance (dhikr). When you find yourself struggling with intrusive thoughts, negative intentions, or feeling a pull towards actions you know are wrong, turn to this supplication.

How to Read

Raise your hands in supplication, facing the Qiblah if possible, and recite this dua with sincerity and focus. Believe that Allah (SWT) is Al-Samee' (The All-Hearing) and Al-Mujeeb (The Answerer of Prayers). It's important to not just recite it, but to also make a conscious effort to avoid harmful thoughts and actions, relying on Allah's strength.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication directly asks Allah (SWT) for protection against the core elements that can lead us astray: undesirable character traits, wrongdoings, and vain desires. By seeking refuge, we acknowledge our own weakness and Allah's infinite power to safeguard us. It helps purify the heart and mind, aligning our intentions and actions with Islamic teachings. It’s a proactive measure against the whispers of Shaytan and the inclinations of the lower self (nafs).

Source & Authentication
