Dua for Protection When Entering a Dangerous Area

Protection
Sahih HadithSunan Abi Dawud 3869

In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in the heavens can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

Bismillahil-ladhi la yadhurru ma'asmihi shai'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa huwas-Samee'ul-Aleem

When to Read

This dua is a powerful shield when you find yourself about to enter a place that you perceive as potentially dangerous. This could be a dark alley, an unfamiliar neighborhood, or even during a journey through a region known for its hazards. Reciting this before stepping into such an environment invokes Allah's protection over you.

How to Read

Recite this dua clearly and with full conviction. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us the importance of sincerity in our supplications. Visualize Allah's protection enveloping you as you utter these words. It's best recited just before you physically enter the place of concern.

Virtues & Benefits

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'Whoever says this three times in the morning will not be afflicted by any calamity until the evening, and whoever says it three times in the evening will not be afflicted by any calamity until the morning.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 3869). While this hadith speaks of morning and evening, the principle of seeking Allah's protection with His magnificent names and attributes applies to any situation where one feels vulnerable. It grants immense peace of mind, knowing that you have sought refuge in the One who controls all affairs.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from 'Uthman bin 'Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'There is no servant who says, in the morning of every day and the evening of every night: "Bismillahil-ladhi la yadhurru ma'asmihi shai'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa huwas-Samee'ul-Aleem" (In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing on earth or in the heavens can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing), three times, but that anything will harm him.'
