Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to supplicate: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the torment of Hellfire, from the torment of the grave, from the trials of life and death, and from the evil of the trial of the False Messiah (Dajjal).' In another narration: 'Abdullah b. al-Harith reported: 'We were with 'Uthman b. 'Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) and he said: 'There is no moment a servant of Allah supplicates with these words, except that his supplication is answered, and there is no moment he says them in the afternoon after his prayer, except that his supplication is answered.' Then he mentioned the same words. I (Abdullah b. al-Harith) said: 'By Allah, he did not teach them to us like this, but he taught us like this: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the torment of Hellfire, from the torment of the grave, and from the afflictions of the False Messiah (Dajjal). And I seek refuge in You from the afflictions of life and the afflictions of death.'
