Protection
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2739

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the demise of Your blessings, the change of Your well-being, the suddenness of Your punishment, and all of Your displeasure.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa fujati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatik.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encompasses seeking refuge from several profound spiritual and worldly fears. By asking Allah to protect us from the 'demise of His blessings,' we are seeking to maintain the good things He has given us, whether they are material, spiritual, or familial. The 'change of His well-being' refers to seeking protection from illness, hardship, and loss of health. The 'suddenness of His punishment' is a plea against unexpected calamities that can befall individuals or communities. Finally, seeking refuge from 'all of His displeasure' is the ultimate goal – to live a life that is pleasing to Allah and avoid actions or circumstances that would anger Him. While not directly mentioning 'being forgotten,' these comprehensive protections inherently safeguard against the eventual fading of one's legacy or memory, as a life lived in Allah's favor and blessings is one that leaves a positive, lasting impact.

(O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the demise of Your blessings, the change of Your well-being, the suddenness of Your punishment, and all of Your displeasure.)
