Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'Whoever stays in a place and then says: A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created), nothing will harm him until he leaves that place.' Sahih Muslim 2708. While this hadith specifically mentions protection in a place, the universality of 'what He has created' allows for its application to various fears, including the perils of the sea and storms.
