أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.
A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq
When to Read
This powerful dua is recommended to be recited in the morning and evening. It's a shield we can activate for ourselves and our loved ones against all forms of evil created by Allah, including the potential harm from venomous creatures, insects, and other animals that might bite or sting. Making this a habit can help invoke Allah's protection throughout the day and night.
How to Read
Recite this dua three times in the morning and three times in the evening. It's beautiful to hold sincerity in your heart as you say it, truly believing in the power of Allah's words to protect you. You can also gently blow on yourself or your children after reciting it, as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ sometimes did with protective duas.
Virtues & Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us this dua as a comprehensive means of seeking Allah's protection. It signifies our reliance on Allah and His perfect words, which encompass all knowledge and power. By reciting it, we are consciously placing ourselves under His divine guardianship, seeking refuge from anything harmful He has created. This includes not only physical dangers like animal bites but also all other forms of evil.

The full hadith text is: 'Uthman bin 'Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "He who says in the morning: 'Bismillahil-lazi la yadhurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa huwas-Sami'ul-'Alim' (In the name of Allah, with Whose name nothing can harm on earth or in heaven, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing) - he will not be afflicted by sudden calamity until the morning, and he who says it in the morning will not be afflicted by sudden calamity until the evening.' And Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) started saying this (Dua) and recited it with his armies. Another narration is: 'A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq' (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created)." This was narrated by Muslim.
