Virtues & Benefits

Seeking refuge in Allah from detestable morals, actions, and desires is a profound act of self-preservation. Bad companions can easily lead one astray, influencing actions and shaping desires in ways that displease Allah. By reciting this dua, we actively ask for Allah's protection against such negative influences. It helps maintain our spiritual integrity, keeps us on the straight path, and fosters a desire for good character and righteous deeds. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself taught this dua, showing its importance in safeguarding our faith and our conduct in this world.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated from Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'O Messenger of Allah, teach me something to say in the morning and evening.' He said: 'O Allah, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Lord of all things and their Owner, the One who bears witness that there is no god but You, I seek refuge in You from the evil of myself, and from the evil of Shaitan, and from seeking the evil of the disbelievers, and from seeking evil with anything, or dragging it to a Muslim.' He said: 'Say: O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the detestable morals, actions, and desires.' (Sunan At-Tirmidhi 3597).
