I seek protection for you both with the perfect words of Allah from every devil and every beast, and from every envious eye.

U'eezhukumā bikalimātil-lāhit-tāmmah, min kulli shayṭānin wa hāmmah, wa min kulli 'aynin lāmmah

When to Read

This beautiful dua is recited by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ for his grandsons, Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them), when he sought Allah's protection for them. It is highly recommended to recite this dua for a newborn baby immediately after birth, and also for the mother who has just gone through the demanding experience of childbirth. It can be recited regularly for the protection of the child and mother from all forms of harm, both seen and unseen.

How to Read

Recite this dua while placing your hand on the forehead of the newborn or on the shoulder of the mother, or simply by making dua in their presence. Speak with sincerity and conviction, envisioning Allah's divine protection encompassing them. It's a practice rooted in seeking refuge in Allah's perfect words, acknowledging His power over all creation.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua invokes Allah's complete protection. The 'perfect words of Allah' signify His divine decree and power, which are free from any flaw or weakness. 'Every devil' refers to all evil beings and influences, while 'every beast' encompasses all harmful creatures. 'Every envious eye' points to the danger of the evil eye, which can be caused by envy. By reciting this, we are entrusting the newborn and their mother to the ultimate safeguard, Allah (Glory be to Him).
