Pregnancy & Newborn
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 735

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا.

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and acceptable deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.

When to Read

This dua is recommended to be recited in the morning after Fajr prayer. When you're in the throes of newborn sleep deprivation, the mental fog can be overwhelming. Reciting this dua upon waking, even if it's just a few hours after you finally managed to rest, helps reorient your mind towards what truly matters: seeking benefit in your actions, ensuring your provision is pure, and making your efforts pleasing to Allah. It's a powerful way to start the day, setting a positive intention despite the exhaustion.

How to Read

Recite this dua sincerely after completing the Fajr prayer. Focus on the meaning of each part: asking Allah for knowledge that benefits you and others, for sustenance that is pure and lawful, and for deeds that are accepted by Him. Even if you are groggy, whisper it with a heart that hopes for Allah's acceptance and guidance. It’s a simple yet profound supplication that can shift your perspective from the immediate discomfort to the lasting rewards.

Virtues & Benefits

While this specific dua is general for seeking beneficial knowledge, provision, and accepted deeds, its application during sleep deprivation is profound. It serves as a mental anchor, reminding you of your purpose beyond the immediate trial. By focusing on these core Islamic values, you can cultivate patience by trusting in Allah's plan for your provision, and gratitude by recognizing that even challenging times can be opportunities for good deeds. Seeking 'accepted deeds' itself encourages you to perform your duties as a parent with intention and care, turning even the most exhausting moments into acts of worship.
