Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that when a person from among the Muslims was taken captive during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, his wife came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and her young son was with her, and she was carrying him. She said: O Messenger of Allah, this is my son. He has been taken captive and my husband. She pointed to a man among the captives. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'What is this?' He said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I am his father.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: 'What prevents you from showing kindness to him?' He said: 'He is a Muslim.' He said: 'Allah has forbidden the believing men from striking a Muslim or subjecting him to injustice.' Then he said to the woman: 'O Allah, make this easy for the family of Muhammad.' And he said: 'Take him.'
