The narration tells us that a man came to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I have hosted and entertained a guest, but he insulted me and has gone away, and I have been afflicted with an evil eye. I have been suffering from this evil eye.' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Why would you not seek refuge by saying: "I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created." (A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq)' [Sahih Muslim 2708]. While the context here is about seeking refuge from the evil eye, the principle of seeking refuge in Allah's perfect words is universal and applicable to seeking protection and comfort for any affliction, including the distress of a newborn.
