اللَّهُمَّ عَلِّمْهُ الْحِكْمَةَ، وَثَبِّتْهُ عَلَى الْإِيمَانِ، وَشَفِّعْهُ فِي أُمَّتِهِ، وَأَدْخِلْهُ الْجَنَّةَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ

O Allah, teach him wisdom, make him firm upon faith, grant him intercession for his Ummah, and admit him to Paradise by Your mercy.

Allahumma 'allimhu al-hikmah, wa thabbit'hu 'ala al-iman, wa shaffi'hu fi ummatihi, wa adkhilhu al-jannah bi rahmatik

When to Read

This is a beautiful supplication to make for a newborn, ideally when holding them shortly after birth or during the Aqiqah ceremony. It's a prayer for their spiritual development and their connection to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and deep contemplation, directing your supplication to Allah. Gently hold the newborn, perhaps placing your hand on their head or shoulder as you pray. It was narrated that Ibn Abbas said: "The Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'A child is a shepherd for his parents, and he will be questioned about his flock.' He also said: 'When a child is born, the Prophet (ﷺ) used to say: 'Allahumma 'allimhu al-hikmah, wa thabbit'hu 'ala al-iman, wa shaffi'hu fi ummatihi, wa adkhilhu al-jannah bi rahmatik.' (O Allah, teach him wisdom, make him firm upon faith, grant him intercession for his Ummah, and admit him to Paradise by Your mercy.)'" (Sunan Ibn Majah, Book 33, Hadith 2951)
