بِسْمِ اللهِ، اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِهِ وَسَدِّدْهُ، وَاذْكُرْهُ بِرَحْمَةٍ رَبِّكَ، اللَّهُمَّ عَلِّمْهُ الكِتَابَ، اللَّهُمَّ فَقِّهْهُ فِي الدِّينِ، اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ عَلَيْهِ فُتُوحَ العَارِفِينَ
In the name of Allah. O Allah, guide him and direct him aright. Remember him with the mercy of your Lord. O Allah, teach him the Book. O Allah, make him understand the religion. O Allah, open for him the conquests of the knowledgeable.
Bismillah, Allahumma ihdihi wa saddidhu, wadhkurhu bi rahmatika Rabbika, Allahumma 'allimhu al-kitab, Allahumma faqqihhu fid-deen, Allahumma-ftah 'alayhi futuh al-'arifin.
When to Read
This dua is recited when a child is born, or at any point during their childhood to invoke Allah's blessings for them to love and understand the Quran. It's a beautiful supplication for parents to make for their children, asking Allah to instill in them a deep connection with His Book.
How to Read
Upon hearing of a newborn or when making dua for a child's spiritual development, face the Qiblah if possible, raise your hands, and recite this supplication with sincerity and heartfelt intention. Imagine Allah's mercy enveloping the child as you ask Him to bestow these great gifts upon them. It can be recited for one's own child or for any child whose well-being you wish to see flourish spiritually.

This powerful dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to his uncle Al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) when he asked for a teaching, asks Allah to grant the child guidance, rectitude, knowledge of the Quran, understanding of the Deen (religion), and the profound insight that comes from true knowledge. Instilling a love for the Quran in a child from a young age is a foundational step towards raising righteous offspring who will be a source of comfort and a continuing charity for their parents.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that Al-Abbas bin 'Abd al-Muttalib said: 'O Messenger of Allah, indeed I wish to seek security from all calamities.' The Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'O uncle of Allah's Messenger, indeed I wish to teach you words that will teach you security. Seek security from Allah in 'Afiyah (well-being) in this world and the hereafter.' Then he said: 'O Allah, I ask You for security in this world and the hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and security in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my faults and calm my fears. O Allah, protect me from before me and from behind me, and from my right and from my left, and from above me, and I seek refuge in Your might from being taken away from beneath me.' And he said: 'O Allah, I ask You for the great countenance of Your Face, and the eternal Book.' Then he said: 'O 'Abbas, O uncle of Allah's Messenger, indeed these are the supplications of the 'abdu'dh-dhahib (the one whose hair is yellowish), that is, Jibril (peace be upon him).'
